How the day runs

A half day is roughly four hours with the vehicle and driver, and the shape is yours to set. The usual version: down to Lucerne for the Chapel Bridge, the Lion Monument and the lakefront, then on to Engelberg, where the Titlis Rotair — the world's first rotating cable car — lifts you to 3,020 m and a glacier cave.

Titlis alone comfortably absorbs the time if you want to linger at the top, so many people take the full day instead and do both properly, with lunch in Engelberg. Tell us which you prefer and we will plan the timings around it rather than rushing you back.

What a private tour actually changes

The mountain is the same mountain whichever way you get there. What differs is everything around it:

• You leave when you want — not at 08:00 because the coach does
• You stay as long as you want at each stop, and skip anything that does not appeal
• Door to door from your hotel, with no meeting point to find
• Nobody else's schedule — no waiting for a group of forty to reassemble
• The vehicle carries your coats and shopping while you walk around

Practical notes

Cable car tickets are not included. You buy them at Engelberg, which keeps our price honest and lets you decide on the day — if the summit is buried in cloud, there is little point paying to go up, and your driver will tell you what the mountain actually looks like before you commit.

Take a warm layer whatever the season: it can be 25°C in Lucerne and below freezing at the top on the same afternoon. Titlis is high enough that the altitude is noticeable, so go up steadily if you have just flown in.
