Sweden, Stockholm and the long roads north.
Sweden is a big country with a small number of places most visitors actually go, and two city charges that quietly change what a journey costs if nobody has accounted for them.
Where we collect
Stockholm Arlanda is about forty minutes from the centre, with Bromma closer in for short-haul. Gothenburg Landvetter serves the west coast. For Malmö and the far south, the practical airport is usually Copenhagen, which is under an hour away across the Øresund Bridge and generally has far better connections than anything on the Swedish side.
We also collect from the Stockholm cruise quays at Frihamnen and Stadsgården, and from the central stations for guests arriving by rail.
The routes we run most
- Arlanda to central Stockholm, Östermalm and the Gamla Stan hotels
- Stockholm to the archipelago departure quays at Stavsnäs and Vaxholm
- Copenhagen to Malmö and Lund, across the Øresund
- Gothenburg airport to the city and the west coast
- Stockholm to Uppsala, Sigtuna and Drottningholm
- Corporate and congress work in Stockholm and Gothenburg
Two city charges, one winter law, and the wildlife
Stockholm and Gothenburg both levy a congestion tax, charged automatically by camera and varying by time of day, and both run environmental zones on top. None of it is optional and none of it has a barrier to stop you. It is inside your quoted price, which is worth confirming with any operator on a city job.
Winter tyres are a legal requirement from 1 December to 31 March whenever conditions are wintry, and in the north that season is longer in practice than on paper. Our fleet runs them for the whole season as standard.
Elk and deer are a real hazard on the roads outside the cities at dawn and dusk, particularly in autumn. It is one of the quieter arguments for a professional driver on a long northern leg: the right response to an animal at the roadside is not the instinctive one, and local drivers know it.
Questions
What people ask us.
How long is Arlanda to central Stockholm?
About 40 minutes by road in normal traffic. The Arlanda Express train is quicker to the central station, so for one or two people travelling light it is a fair alternative and we will say so.
Is the congestion tax included?
Yes, along with the environmental zone requirements for Stockholm and Gothenburg. Both are camera enforced with no barrier, and both are inside your quoted price.
What airport is best for Malmö?
Copenhagen, almost always. It is under an hour away across the Øresund Bridge and has considerably better connections than the Swedish alternatives.
Are your vehicles equipped for Swedish winter?
Yes. Winter tyres are fitted for the season, which between 1 December and 31 March is a legal requirement in wintry conditions rather than a preference.
Can you reach the archipelago?
To the departure quays, yes, including Stavsnäs and Vaxholm. The islands themselves are reached by boat, and we time the drop to the sailing.
Do you cover the far north?
Ask us with your dates. Stockholm, Gothenburg and the south are our strength, and we would rather be honest about a Kiruna job than take it and improvise.
Travelling in Sweden?
Congestion tax and winter equipment are in the price you see, not added later.
