The Czech Republic, and the roads out of Prague.
Prague is close enough to Vienna, Dresden and Munich that the road frequently beats the airport, which makes the Czech Republic the natural hinge of a Central European itinerary.
Where we collect
Václav Havel Airport Prague is the main arrival point, about half an hour from the centre in normal traffic. We also collect from Brno and Ostrava, and from Praha hlavní nádraží for guests arriving by rail from Vienna or Berlin.
A number of our Czech bookings never involve a Czech airport at all: they are road legs of a longer trip, arriving from Vienna, Dresden, Munich or Berlin and leaving the same way.
The routes we run most
- Prague airport to the Old Town, Malá Strana and the Vinohrady hotels
- Prague to Český Krumlov, about two and a half hours and worth the whole day
- Prague to Karlovy Vary and the spa towns, about two hours
- Prague to Kutná Hora and the Bohemian castles as a half day
- Prague to Vienna, Dresden, Munich, Berlin and Bratislava
- Congress and corporate work in Prague and Brno
A digital vignette, and an old town built before cars
The Czech motorway vignette has been fully electronic since 2021. There is no sticker on the windscreen any more; the vehicle registration is registered against a period and checked by camera. It is in your quoted price, and it is one of the reasons a locally operating vehicle is simpler than a hire car for a short visit.
Prague's Old Town is largely closed to through traffic, and the streets that are open are medieval, narrow and frequently cobbled. Most of the good hotels have an arrangement for arrival, and our drivers know which approach actually works at which address. A full-size coach cannot reach a good part of the centre at all, so for a group it is worth telling us the hotel rather than just the district.
Border crossings are quiet but real. The Czech Republic is in Schengen, so the runs to Austria, Germany, Poland and Slovakia normally involve no stop at all. Carry a passport or ID card anyway, because spot checks do happen.
Questions
What people ask us.
How long is Prague airport to the city centre?
About 30 minutes in normal traffic. Rush hour and the approaches to the Old Town can add fifteen.
Can you drive into the Old Town?
As far as the access rules and the street widths allow, which for most hotels means to the door. Tell us the exact address when you book, particularly for a larger vehicle, because a coach cannot reach much of the centre.
Is the motorway vignette included?
Yes. The Czech vignette has been digital since 2021, registered against the vehicle rather than stuck on the windscreen, and it is inside your quoted price.
Can you drive from Prague to Vienna or Dresden?
Yes, both regularly. Vienna is about four hours and Dresden about two, and for a group with luggage the road is often simpler than flying.
Is Český Krumlov worth a day?
Comfortably. It is about two and a half hours each way, so a full day with the vehicle staying with you works better than trying to compress it into a half day.
Do you handle congress transport in Prague?
Yes, including phased airport arrivals and hotel to venue shuttles, coordinated as one booking across as many vehicles as it takes.
